Ceramides for Healthy Hair
Ceramides are well-known lipids involved in cellular development, structure and proliferation, including hair cells. It also helps preserve collagen integrity. This is important because collagen is one of the building blocks for healthy, shiny hair. The wheat phytoceramide extract in this formula has been clinically studied to help promote hair density and volume and reduce shedding.
Thinning hair can affect women of any age and impact their quality of life. But you can “mane-tain” your hair’s health, strength, density and volume with wheat phytoceramides and saw palmetto extracts, clinically studied ingredients to help promote hair density and fuller hair.
Support healthy hair growth cycle, density and volume with wheat phytoceramides
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, participants between the ages of 24 and 64 took either 30 mg of wheat phytoceramides or placebo for 84 days.1
Results were measured on days 56 and 84 via expert-administered hair analysis, including a pull test evaluating hair fall, clinical scoring of hair density and volume, self-perceived efficacy, evaluation of hair cycle, hair diameter and growth and scalp sebum content.
Expert evaluation of the wheat phytoceramide group saw that up to 64% of the women taking this extract saw improved hair density and volume compared to baseline.
For the self-perceived efficacy questionnaire, up to 90% of women taking the wheat phytoceramide extract felt they had less shedding, faster hair growth and healthier hair after 12 weeks.
The results were similar in both pre- and postmenopausal women.
Fuller hair appearance with saw palmetto
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, participants took either a special, standardized saw palmetto extract or a placebo. Analysis of this study indicates that the saw palmetto extract group had positive results in hair shedding and hair falling via the hair comb test (where a comb was pulled through hair and loose hairs then counted) and the hair pull test, respectively.2
Results were measured at intervals of 8 and 16 weeks via an expert-administered hair count (including hair comb and hair pull tests), self-evaluation and photographic assessment.
For the self-assessment questionnaire, a variety of appearance-related scores were collected, the saw palmetto group reported an improvement in the appearance of hair thickness.
Effects on DHT
In the same study, researchers sought to measure saw palmetto’s effect on dihydrotestosterone, or DHT. The result: the saw palmetto extract helped maintain DHT levels within the normal range throughout the study.
